Sweden | Ellen Benediktson - "Insomnia"

We follow Melodifestivalen quite closely, and we were very excited when we saw that Swedish singer Ellen Benediktson came back to the competition with a mega uptempo song. After the soft "Songbird" last year, she presented us "Insomnia", a marking and upbeat pop. Sadly she couldn't repeat the feat of arriving to the final.

Germany | Andreas Kümmert - "Heart of stone"

Andreas Kümmert has been in the eye of the storm during Unser Song für Österreich, the German National Final for Eurovision 2015. He was declared the winner with "Heart of stone" (we later knew he had won with 79% of the votes!), but then decided to withdraw his victory and pass it to Ann Sophie, the girl who had lost. Rumours about the reasons behind his withdrawal spread in every possible direction, yet there was no official confirmation of any. What we know is that the song is absolutely wonderful!

Finland | Opera Skaala - "Heart of light"

Opera Skaala is an independent ensemble which is self-described as contemporary opera for contemporary people. The group entered UMK 2015, the Finnish National Final for Eurovision, with "Heart of light", a pop song that grows into a fabulous chorus and is accompanied with mindblowing vocals. The song ended third.

Italy | Chiara Galiazzo - "Straordinario"

Italian singer Chiara Galiazzo took part of this year's Festival di Sanremo, which also served as the Italian National Final for Eurovision. The song she submitted was "Straordinario", a soulful and intense ballad which ended up fifth.

Italy | Annalisa - "Una finestra tra le stelle"

Annalisa is surely one of the favorite artists of Sounds European!'s team. The Italian singer's voice is stupendous, and her songs are always top quality. Her entry for the latest Festival di Sanremo, "Una finestra tra le stelle", which ended the contest with a fourth place, is another example of that: it's a masterpiece of music. It's so great, that we feel as if highlighting anything of it would be insufficient to describe how great it is. She didn't win Sanremo, but she won our hearts. It is our song of the week.

France | Florent Mothe feat. Camille Lou - "Quelque chose de magique"

There's no country in the world producing music for theater plays and making them hit the radios and the charts, both in amount and quality, as France. Sounds European! has already presented Florent Mothe, from Argenteuil, and now we present Camille Lou, from Bersillies. They are together for the new play "La légende du roi Arthur", whose song "Quelque chose de magique" is getting very popular. It has the very unique ambience of French plays, and we surely love it!

Estonia | Demie feat. Janice - "Kuum"

The 2015 Estonian National Final for Eurovision was won by Elina Born and Stig Rästa. But another song of it has really called our attention: "Kuum", by the DJ Demie (from Tallinn) and Janice (from Tartu). It's a very exciting track, with extremely involving melody and perfect vocals. We don't understand why it didn't reach a better result. We love it!

Malta | Christabelle - "Rush"

Here we go! She was the second place of the Maltese National Final for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. "Rush", by Christabelle Borg (born in Mġarr in 1992), is just as catchy as it gets when we talk about pop music. The melody is contagious from first to last second, and her singing helps it to get even more sticky to the head. Great fun!

Italy | Bianca Atzei - "Il solo al mondo"

Let's meet one of the most talented voices of Italy, a country which is known for having some of the best voices of the world. Bianca Atzei is the stage name of Veronica Atzei, singer who was born in Milan in 1987. Her "Il solo al mondo" took part on this year's edition of Festival di Sanremo. The song's 14th place doesn't translate how great it really is. Charming melody wrapped in stupendous vocals. A true masterpiece!

Kosovo | Lindita - "S'të fal"

Lindita Halimi is a Kosovar singer who was born in Vitina in 1989. Her song "S'të fal" was a huge success on the 53rd edition of Festivali i Këngës, which was also used to select the Albanian song for Eurovision. Lindita finished third, but she was surely our favorite. The song is extremely good, and her vocal power won us all!

Switzerland | Deborah Bough - "Take me back to 23"

From Lugano, in Switzerland, to the world, meet the great singer Deborah Bough. Her amazing "Take me back to 23" didn't manage to win the Swiss National Final for Eurovision Song Contest, but it was surely our favorite. It's a delightful uptempo pop which invites you to dance all over the place. Deborah's voice is very good, and takes the song to an even bigger level.

Belgium | Lara Fabian - "Voce"

One of the most talented singers of Belgium, with a wonderful song in Italian. Lara Fabian, who has firstly appeared here on SE! with her duet with Mustafa Ceceli, has taken part of this year's Festival di Sanremo.
